Hours: Full-time hours per week
NEC manages the Discretionary Assistance Fund (DAF) on behalf of the Welsh Government.
The DAF team awards clients with cash, grants, and white goods to individuals experiencing financial hardship.
Our core function is to verify and resolve grant applications against set criteria.
We assist customers over the phone, online, and via email.
The Role
Support delivery of the Discretionary Welfare Fund (DAF) contract work through online, telephone, and postal applications. Serve as the first point of contact for applicants and act as the system administrator for the NEC system to input and process applications.
Process emergency payments and individual assistance grant applications.
Manage and process data in a fast-paced office environment.
Liaise with applicants to input information into the DAF system.
Undertake eligibility checks with applicants, seeking information directly from them and utilizing additional sources for confirmation.
Understand legislation and criteria involved in awarding emergency payments and grants, and process applications accordingly.
Adhere to the Processing Services Customer Charter when handling all calls, in both English and Welsh.
Work as part of the team to achieve targets set by the Service Manager.
Handle incoming and outgoing correspondence related to Local Welfare Provision via phone, email, or letter.
Respond to inquiries from clients, citizens, and colleagues professionally and positively.
Act as a key deliverer of the DAF contract.
Qualifications
Conversational level Welsh language speaker.
