Meet the team You'll lead a high-performing, market-facing Business Development team embedded within our BD, Marketing and Communications function. The team is deeply connected to our sector and practice groups, working in close partnership with our lawyers and leadership to deliver strategic growth initiatives. You'll report to the BD, Marketing and Communications Director and collaborate with sector heads, BD leads, and international colleagues to ensure alignment across our global footprint. This is a collaborative, forward-thinking environment where your leadership will shape how we engage with clients, win new business, and grow our market share. The opportunity for you

This is a rare opportunity to join Taylor Wessing as Head of Business Development , a pivotal leadership role driving our growth strategy across the UK, Ireland, and the Middle East. You'll be at the forefront of shaping and executing our BD vision, working closely with senior stakeholders to deliver targeted, high-impact programmes that support our ambition to be the most client-centric global law firm. If you're a commercially minded leader with a passion for innovation, client engagement, and team development, this role offers the platform to make a lasting impact at a firm that values creativity, collaboration, and excellence. Key Responsibilities

Reporting to Mike Beswick , BD, Marketing and Communications Director, you will:

  • Lead the development and execution of the firm's BD strategy across the UK, Ireland, and Middle East.
  • Manage and inspire a high-performing BD team, ensuring strong client engagement and market insight.
  • Drive sector-focused growth programmes and lead our C-suite and GC targeting initiatives.
  • Oversee major pursuits and whitespace opportunities, working closely with the bids team.
  • Use data and client insights to identify and act on revenue opportunities.
  • Enhance the efficiency, quality, and consistency of BD operations across the firm.

Knowledge, Skills And Experience

We're looking for a senior BD leader who brings:

  • A strong commercial mindset and strategic vision.
  • Proven success in leading BD functions within legal, professional, or financial services.
  • Experience designing and delivering growth strategies that drive measurable results.
  • Excellent leadership, coaching, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Strong communication, influencing, and analytical capabilities.
  • A collaborative, proactive approach with high emotional intelligence and resilience.

  • Hybrid working (Offering the opportunity to work remotely, while maintaining a social boundary by working from our award-winning offices for 3 days a week)
  • Holiday (Our basic annual holiday entitlement starts at 25 days, with a further discretionary day of paid leave in December. You may also purchase up to five extra days each year (pro rata).
  • Enhanced Maternity and Paternity leave (After one-year service, you are entitled to up to 26 weeks leave full pay if you or your partner give birth or adopt a child).
