What you'll do
This is a professional engineer role within the International Government Global engineering team providing networking and satellite communications solutions concepts, detailed solutions designs, systems integration, maintenance program development and training solutions. These engineering activities support International Government engineering consultancy opportunities as well as commercial proposals, bids or tender responses in support of the sales teams within International Government.
The Solutions Architect role requires you to be self-sufficient and self-motivated engineering professional with extensive satellite solutions design experience who is expected to oversee all requirements and dependencies of tasks allocated to them. As a Solutions Architect you will be required to develop solutions to meet specific International Government customer requirements utilising either existing or newly developed hardware, product configurations and / or services, and must collaborate with functional teams outside of International Government as needed to bring new hardware and services into operation. You will also be required to develop written engineering content for inclusion into commercial RFI and RFT responses, commercial proposals or quotations. Solutions Architects must also be prepared to provide technical guidance, instruction and mentoring of less experience engineering staff within the International Government engineering team.
The day-to-day
- Provision of timely and insightful technical input and/or proof of concept design into the preparation of tender responses utilising Viasats global product and capability catalogue
- Provision of satellite solutions designs and satellite systems integration expertise to clients in support of International Government sales and operations teams
- Specification, documentation and implementation of hardware solutions for mobile and fixed satellite services and particularly the Inmarsat GX satellite service
- Development and build of customer solutions prior to handing over to the operations team for in life support.
- Provide engineering level technical support to the ongoing operations of the International Government GX VAR
- Specification, documentation and implementation of hardware solutions for IP networking over satellite
- Provision of senior engineering level support and technical mentoring to International Government engineers
- Enhance V-IG customer solutions knowledge base of key products and services, moving the business unit aligning with One Viasat vision
- Interact with multiple engineering capabilities (internal and external) and customers to ensure requirements are understood and customer needs are met
- Provision of training and technical presentations
