Purpose
The Operations Supervisor accomplishes department objectives and manages day-to-day tasks by supervising staff, organizing, and monitoring work processes.
Job Title: Operations Supervisor
Contract: Full Time, Permanent
Location: Manchester Airport, World Freight Terminal – M90 5UX
Salary: £36,000 per annum
Hours of work: Mon-Fri, 50hrs/wk
Reporting to: Operations Manager
Main Duties
- Ensure the team has planned and managed all vehicles operating effectively and profitably.
- Supervise drivers and the office team daily.
- Be prepared to cover resourcing issues or gaps as required.
- Ensure the team updates and progresses accordingly.
- Allocate jobs to drivers meeting the Working Time Directive/driver hours regulation.
- Serve as a main contact point for staff during shifts.
- Ensure jobs are priced, closed off, and invoiced upon completion.
- Liaise with drivers and customers regarding delays and issues.
- Update relevant spreadsheets to reflect service standards for customers.
- Handle internal and external customer requests via telephone.
- Provide leadership, direction, and mentoring to foster team spirit and cooperation.
- Monitor subcontractors and agencies to ensure efficient service within budget.
- Oversee daily task completion across all areas.
Experience
- High level of customer care and strong administrative background.
- Experience supervising/managing people.
- Practical knowledge of Drivers Hours regulations.
- Knowledge of the logistics industry.
