Overview:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Data Center Shift Lead to join a leading facilities and data centre services provider. This role is ideal for a hands-on, electrically qualified professional with a strong background in critical environments. The successful candidate will take a leadership role within the shift team, ensuring all maintenance activities are completed to the highest standard, while delivering operational excellence in a fast-paced, mission-critical setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead shift operations and ensure completion of both planned and reactive maintenance tasks.
- Own and manage the campus emergency lighting maintenance and testing schedules.
- Survey, quote, and deliver minor electrical works on-site.
- Support the delivery of high-quality service aligned to best practice standards and client expectations.
- Ensure all maintenance work is carried out in compliance with health and safety procedures and safe systems of work.
- Provide technical guidance and supervision for sub-contractors and internal engineers.
- Support continuous improvement and compliance with audit requirements.
- Assist with escalations and coordinate high-priority task responses.
- Maintain accurate documentation and provide regular updates to the engineering management team.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- BS th Edition Wiring Regulations
- City & Guilds 2391/2395 Inspection and Testing
- Emergency First Aid at Work
- Previous experience in a critical/data centre environment is essential
- Demonstrated understanding of Health and Safety and ability to oversee others
- Strong technical knowledge of both electrical and mechanical systems
- Excellent communication skills and strong customer service mindset
- Able to manage subcontractors and operate a permit-to-work system
- Proficient with IT systems and able to work independently with minimal supervision
Desirable Qualifications:
- IOSH or NEBOSH Health & Safety qualification
- AP15 High Voltage & AP14 Low Voltage certification
- City & Guilds 2377 (PAT Testing)
