Job Description

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Senior Tax Assistant to join a well-established and reputable company based in St Albans/London. Our client, experts in their field, are a modern and innovative professional services company.\\n\\nAs a Senior Tax Assistant you will work within a busy Tax Department, which provides advice on the full spectrum of personal tax compliance issues. The successful candidate will work with the Tax Manager and wider Tax Department to provide a full personal tax service to a wide range of clients including company directors, self-employed individuals, partnerships, property landlords, high net worth and non-UK resident and non-UK domiciled individuals.\\n\\nThe main duties for this position will involve managing a portfolio of clients, dealing with the preparation of personal tax returns and tax accounting for our tax compliance service, corresponding with clients and HM Revenue & Customs.\\n\\nThe ideal candidate will have prior experience in personal tax and will be self-motivated, computer literate and will have good written and verbal communications skills.\\n\\nWhat’s in it for you;\\n\\n· Salary: Up to £58k, depending on experience\\n\\n· Hours: Monday to Friday from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm (St Albans) or from 9.30 am to 5.30 pm (London).

Hybrid working available after probation.\\n\\n· Benefits: include 25 days holiday, holiday trading scheme, generous pension scheme, discounts/shopping vouchers, Life assurance, long service awards and a great social calendar!\\n\\nKey Responsibilities\\n\\n· Provision of a self-assessment compliance service to include all aspects of personal tax compliance, including partnerships and sole traders\\n\\n· Employee benefits compliance including preparation of Forms P11D and PSA\\n\\n· Preparing personal tax and capital gains tax returns, ensuring accuracy and completeness of information\\n\\n· Preparing Annual Tax on Enveloped Dwellings returns\\n\\n· Effectively manage own portfolio of 150 to 200 clients for tax return compliance as well as P11D and ATED portfolios, ensuring all deadlines are met\\n\\n· Liaise effectively and professionally with clients and officers of HMRC on tax compliance issues and enquiries, ensuring that deadlines are met\\n\\n· Record time spent on each client’s affairs using the relevant computer software to submit weekly timesheets, ensuring that work is completed within budget and raising own bills when required\\n\\n· Attend and participate in team meetings and attend training such as tax webinars/ seminars and CPD updates as necessary\\n\\n· Other ad hoc duties as may be required from time to time in order to assist the smooth running of the Tax Department or to provide additional assistance to clients\\n\\nWhat the employer is looking for:\\n\\n· Strong previous experience in personal tax or qualified to ATT standard\\n\\n· Good understanding of tax legislation and the ability to apply that technical knowledge to client circumstances\\n\\n· Good working knowledge of most Personal Tax and Capital Gains Tax matters, including experience of working for self-employed individuals and company directors\\n\\n· Excellent communication skills, with a good command of written and spoken English\\n\\n· Ability to communicate information clearly, concisely and accurately, both in person and when using the telephone and email\\n\\n· Ability to organise self, prioritise and complete tasks on time\\n\\n· Ability to check for accuracy and give good attention to detail\\n\\n· Highly motivated self-starter with the ability to complete assignments within time constraints and deadlines\\n\\n· Ability to work effectively in a team environment both with one’s colleagues and with and for the firm’s Managers and Partners\\n\\n· Good IT skills, including experience of tax software programs, Word, Excel and other Windows based systems\\n\\nRed Door Recruitment is committed to encouraging equality, diversity, and inclusion among our workforce, and eliminating unlawful discrimination.
