Materials Buyer (Mat Cover / March 2026) £36,225 PA Monday to Thursday 08:00 – 16:30 / Friday 08:00 – 13:00 Knowsley Permanent We are excited to offer an opportunity to join our client’s manufacturing team as a Materials Buyer to help cover for maternity leave and is expected to run till March 2026. This hands-on role is vital in supporting the smooth running of operations by ensuring the timely and accurate purchasing of all direct and indirect manufacturing materials. Reporting to the Purchasing and Materials Manager, you will work closely with various departments, maintaining stock accuracy and availability. This position would suit someone from a manufacturing background with experience using MRP/ERP systems and a proactive, detail-oriented approach. Key Responsibilities: Run MRP and place purchase orders as instructed by the Purchasing and Materials Manager. Expedite purchase orders and maintain up-to-date delivery schedules. Keep purchasing records accurate and up to date (contracts, quotes, orders, certifications, and supplier declarations). Identify new suppliers, negotiate pricing and lead times, and present viable alternatives. Resolve supplier invoice queries efficiently. Maintain accurate part and supplier records within the MRP system. Manage inventory levels to support manufacturing output and forecasting. Produce monthly supplier performance reports. Support improvement projects and maintain QMS processes. Carry out general administrative tasks, filing, and system housekeeping. Work collaboratively with manufacturing, engineering, stores, sales, and accounts teams.
