Description

  • You will join an onsite team providing 24Γ—7 support with a mixture of onsite rota and oncall for an Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) datacenter
  • Candidate will have previous datacenter Experience
  • Responsible for effective delivery of technical support, rack installations, inventory receipts & returns, 5S and project work
  • The break fix activities technicians are responsible for include, but not limited to, CPU/memory/Motherboard/HDD replacements, cable replacements, network issue diagnosis and problem diagnosis
  • Long line cabling experience (up to 50 meters) is beneficial for this role with cabling expected to be at a world class standard.
  • Experience with troubleshooting structured fiber where there are multiple hops.
  • Work on problem escalations with relevant teams to resolution
  • Prioritising tickets in the queue is crucial in conjunction with understanding Business Objectives
  • Technician will perform activities in accordance with internal polices and service level agreements
  • Involvement in multiple projects across numerous lines of business

Responsibilities

  • Effective delivery of technical support and installations. This will include break-fix tasks, includes hardware, network, cabling and rack deployments, site planning, problem escalation and managing installations.
  • Works primarily at an Oracle datacenter in a \”mission critical operations\” environment
  • Requires a 7Γ—24-hours commitment to participate in the regional standby rotation program and shift. (Rota is subject to change)
  • Involves On-call shifts which means a driving license and the ability to reach the datacenter site within 60 mins.
  • Work in close collaboration to other technical teams & non-technical teams (e.g networking, compute, compliance, business operations, landlord)
  • Understand internal customer problem and provide technical solution in timely manner
  • Participate in the installation, monitoring, maintenance, support, and optimisation of all production server hardware, software
  • Support deployment of on-site data center physical infrastructure, structured cabling installation is a significant part of this position, Experience with different types of Fiber cabling and connection type is essential.
  • Install, Replace and Troubleshoot Cables and Hardware, Experience with OTDR tools is beneficial.
  • Work within a ticket-based environment.
  • Able to prioritise ticketing queues, resolving escalations, and clearing blocking issues to enable continued delivery of technician activities in accordance with internal polices and service level agreements.
  • Be aware of, and abide by, Ticket processes and protocol, including OCI Change Management rules.
  • System board level repair and fault diagnosis to SLAs
  • Using provided tools to do a proper and timely internal reporting.
  • 5S installation & maintenance, ensuring World class standards.
  • Keeping accurate inventory records for receipts, consumption & returns.
  • Planning, cabling & commissioning new rack positions
  • Involvement with the design & commissioning of new whitespaces
  • Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team without friction
  • Some travel will be involved.
