Role Overview
As a dedicated Kitchen Assistant your role involves supporting the Nursery Chef in preparing and presenting age-appropriate meals to the highest standards within a clean, secure kitchen environment. Uphold meticulous kitchen hygiene and safety standards, aligning with internal and external requirements.
Your behaviour sets the tone for a child-friendly atmosphere, and you cater thoughtfully to dietary needs while maintaining clear communication with the team.
Key Responsibilities
· Support the Chef during meal service by assisting with food preparation and delivering meals to the rooms.
· Wash and sanitise kitchenware, including dishes, utensils, and food preparation areas.
· Ensure compliance with food hygiene and safety standards.
· Assist with keeping the kitchen clean, organised, and compliant with nursery policies.
· Support the safe storage of food and kitchen supplies.
What we require from you:
- Previous experience of working with children
- Understanding of how a nursery/school kitchen operates Experience of working within a professional Kitchen environment
- Experience of providing support to colleagues in kitchen environment
- Basic Knowledge of COSHH
- Level 2 award or above in food safety or willingness to complete
- Knowledge of Health and Safety regulations and hygiene requirements
- Ability to work as part of a team, fostering positive relationships
- Neat and professional appearance, with a commitment to company policies
- Enhanced DBS or willingness to obtain a DBS
- Understanding of the importance of equal opportunities in the workplace
- Awareness of cultural and religious dietary requirements
