This is an exciting opportunity to support adults and young people with disabilities and/or autism in travelling confidently, safely, and independently across the borough to access school, further education, or day care settings.

The post holder will deliver training (including small groups) and support trainees traveling on public transport. They will work closely with parents, carers, and support networks, undertake risk assessments to ensure trainee safety, and use effective action planning and assessments to promote independent travel.

We have two part-time posts available, each working hours per week, Monday to Friday across the borough. The role involves supporting individuals to travel to educational or care settings, requiring flexibility including early mornings and/or late afternoons. The working hours are likely to be from am-noon and/or pm-pm.

Role Responsibilities

  • Support young people and adults to travel safely and independently on public transport.
  • Work with trainees and their support networks to plan and deliver bespoke travel training programs.
  • Manage a caseload of trainees, monitoring their progress throughout the training.
  • Develop confidence and skills in trainees to enable independent journeys.

  • Skilled, proactive, and flexible individuals committed to making a difference in customers\’ lives.
  • Experience working with young people and/or adults with special educational needs, learning disabilities, and/or autism.
  • Able to work flexibly, including early mornings and late afternoons, across the borough.
