This is an exciting opportunity to join our successful Small Business Team. This opportunity is ideal for either a new entrant or those with experience in the insurance industry who are keen to gain and develop their technical expertise.

You will play an active role in contributing towards the delivery of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) across your team, underwriting business & building strong relationships with both internal & external customers.

The quality of our Underwriters is pivotal to Allianz’s success, no risk is the same, so you’ll need to use your strong analytical and communication skills, as well as technical knowledge to influence our brokers and develop strong trading relationships.

We offer a great environment to support and nurture personal and technical development, including CII qualifications. You will learn to underwrite Allianz products and develop your underwriting and soft skills over the course of a 10 week induction programme. After this time, your development will continue with further specialist training giving you the authority to handle more complex work and make wider underwriting decisions.

This is a hybrid role and after the initial induction period will involve working from home combined with a minimum of 2 days per week in the office.

Salary Information

Pay: Starting at £24,500 per annum, with potential for negotiation based on relevant industry experience.

Pay is based on relevant experience, skills for the role, and location. Salary is only one part of our total reward package.

About You

Your role will vary day to day, but here is a bit of what you can expect:

  • Providing excellent service to our customers
  • Handle general customer queries via the telephone, Live chat or email within agreed service standards
  • Underwrite new business, renewals and mid-term adjustments
  • Take referrals from other underwriters where appropriate and within own authority level
  • Negotiate within authority, referring where appropriate to maximize customer retention
  • Anticipate likely objections and build effective responses
  • To collaborate strongly with other departments to achieve the Company\’s goals in respect of service delivery

We don\’t expect you to know everything from day one, but the following will enable you to hit the ground running:

  • Passionate about your own development
  • Evidence of personal and professional development and commitment to further development is essential
  • Good numerical, written and verbal communication (including telephony) skills are essential
  • You should be confident handling, analysing and interpreting data
  • You must enjoy interacting with others, building strong internal and external relationships and have excellent communication skills
  • An understanding of the commercial insurance market
  • Practical knowledge of MS Office and MS Outlook
