There an exciting opportunity to join our team Digestive Disease Unit Ward C7 as a Band 6 Sister/Charge Nurse.
Responsible for the assessment of patient care needs and the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of patient care.
Coordinate the Nursing team to ensure the effective delivery of care.
When delegated to do so; manage the Unit in the absence of the Senior Sister / Unit Managers.
Provide effective specialist nursing care to the patients on the Digestive Disease Unit.
Demonstrate, supervise & lead learners in the delivery of high-quality Nursing & specialist care.
Show commitment to the 6 Cs of Nursing and demonstrate exemplary Nursing practice and national standards for NAPF.
Main duties of the job
The focus for the post holder will be in the following key areas:
- Support the provision of a clean environment
- Ensure improvements in patient outcomes and the safety, effectiveness, and experience of their care
- Assist in developing nurse leadership, improvement, and management of services within the escalation ward area to ensure high standards of patient care and service are delivered efficiently and effectively.
- Treat patients with dignity and respect
- Assist the ward manager in providing senior nurse leadership during both regular and unsocial hours
- Assist the ward manager in ensuring quality improvement work is implemented and sustained.
- Support the delivery of the Nursing Strategy at all times.
- Be a confident role model for the junior nursing team.

- Assessor of Nursing:
- Establish an individual’s capabilities in emergency presentations.
- Maintain accurate clinical observations.
- Assess individuals with suspected coronary heart disease.
- Take presenting history to inform assessment.
- Assess psychological, emotional, or social rehabilitation needs.
- Conduct pre-intervention assessments and document appropriately.
Planner of Nursing:
- Prioritize and refer for further assessment and care.
- Support individuals through dying process.
- Develop, implement, and review care plans.
- Coordinate treatment plans for conditions like coronary heart disease.
- Assess and determine interventions.
- Prioritize interventions and plan for early discharge.
Practitioner of Nursing:
- Administer drugs/treatments safely and accurately.
- Use assessment tools and interpret clinical data.
- Recognize peri-arrest/cardiac arrest situations and initiate therapy.
- Perform venepuncture and cannulation.
- Adhere to infection control standards.
- Manage unstable patients requiring transfer.
- Access clinical results and communicate effectively.
- Lead and supervise learners and report concerns.
Evaluator of Nursing:
- Measure quality of care and goal achievement.
- Adjust care plans based on evaluations.
- Work towards NAPF recommendations.
Learner/Researcher of Nursing:
