Responsibilities
- Providing patient care based on physical, psychosocial, education, safety, and related criteria appropriate to the age of the patients served in the assigned service.
- Ensuring effective and safe patient outcomes through practice, judgment and critical actions.
- Maintaining ongoing communication with patients, nursing colleagues, and other members of the healthcare team regarding patient status and rendered care.
- Taking self‑directed initiative to go beyond expectations, acting proactively to improve performance and create new opportunities.
- Participating in interdisciplinary collaboration of the patient\’s plan of care from admission to discharge to ensure safe transition and continuum of care.
- Engaging in Unit/Department Performance Improvement activities.
Qualifications
Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
- High School diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- Completion of one of the following: Certified Nursing Assistant, Medical Assistant, or Patient Care Technician program; Fundamentals of Nursing program; or HMH PCT Apprenticeship Program; or equivalent medical background experience (EMT, Home Health Aide, CMA, MA, PCT, Nursing Assistant). Applicants who have not completed one of these programs but meet other requirements will be considered for the apprenticeship.
- Quick learning ability, adaptability to changing patient needs, strong accountability, exceptional teamwork focus, dedication to ongoing education, and a commitment to delivering high‑quality care.
Education, Knowledge, Skills And Abilities Preferred
- Experience or certification in phlebotomy, EKG, vital signs, and blood sugar.
- At least one year of PCT or CNA experience in a hospital setting, or eligibility for the apprenticeship program.
- Certification as Nurse Assistant, Medical Assistant, or PCT with a program that includes phlebotomy, EKG, and nursing assistant coursework both theoretical and clinical.
Licenses and Certifications Required
- AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) within 60 days of starting.
Compensation
Minimum $20.32 per hour. Pay is benchmarked against market data, experience, education, certifications, skills, geographic location, internal equity, and budget considerations. Eligible for shift differentials, performance incentives, and a comprehensive benefits package (health, dental, vision, paid leave, tuition reimbursement, retirement).
Job Duties
