Purpose of the role:
We are recruiting for a Senior Funds Content Specialist to support our editorial coverage of the fund management industry. The experienced financial journalist will assist the Funds and Investment Education Editor in editing, commissioning, writing and recording independent high-quality editorial and multi-media content about funds, investment trusts and exchange-traded funds (ETFs) for the ii website. They are also a public-facing brand champion for ii, representing interactive investor at customer and external events.
This high-profile role would suit an experienced and ambitious staff writer or deputy editor on a consumer or trade title with good knowledge of the investment industry looking for their next role in a large, established editorial team. Creativity, multi-media skills and an eye for detail are a must, as is a proven track record in covering investing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Write and pitch original fund, investment trust and ETF news and features for the ii website that is relevant for our retail investor audience.
- Script, host, commission and record engaging video content and podcasts with fund managers and relevant industry figures.
- Work with the Funds and Investment Education Editor to edit high-quality independent editorial content.
- Ensure all content is delivered on time, free of errors, and in ii tone of voice.
- Appear on our On The Money podcast (recorded weekly) with the Funds and Investment Education Editor.
- Work with Funds and Investment Education Editor to produce investment education content in written and video form, including for a new customer and acquisition tool called Investment Coach.
- To be a verified user on ii Community, our social trading network.
- Contribute to external customer monthly webinars – such as hosting a panel or being a panellist.
- Contribute to internal educational initiatives, such as webinars or presentation.
- Help support the PR team as a specialist in your field.
- Work to increase SEO visibility and editorial engagement with content (metrics to include: repeat visits and page views).
- Stay on top of wider industry trends.
- Represent ii externally at events.
- Work closely with analysts in the fund research team.
- Maintain the first line of Risk/Compliance defence by ensuring individual adherence to business processes and procedures that are designed to meet the regulatory standards set out in the relevant FCA rules and guidance.
- Make informed risk decisions and effectively and credibly debate and challenge management recommendations within your role in line with the approved Risk Management Framework. Maintain the first line of defence by reviewing/supporting the risks and controls assigned to the department. Promote change through Root Cause Analyse from Risk events completed.
Skills & Experience Required:
- A thorough understanding of all collectives products: funds, investment trusts and exchange-traded funds (ETFs).
- Strong multi-media skillset – including ability to script, and host podcasts and video.
- Ability to drive thought leadership and opinionated content.
- Creativity when writing/recording content.
- Excellent written, verbal and presentation and communication skills.
- Proven ability to build and maintain working relationships with internal (all members of the editorial team) and external stakeholders (industry PRs / wider media).
- A network of existing PR, industry and media contacts.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy level.
- Drive for results and commitment towards deadlines.
- Strong proofreading and editing skills.
- Knowledge of content management systems and SEO.
- Knowledge of the regulatory environment and associated risks that require managing.
- Proven and up to date social media skills.
