Trust Manager – St Albans

Newstaff Employment is hiring an experienced Trust Manager in St Albans to join a successful and well‑respected firm. This is a fantastic opportunity to become a key member of the Trust Team, managing a diverse portfolio of UK resident and charitable trusts while working closely with Directors and Partners.

Location: St Albans, Hertfordshire

Salary: £55 – £70 per annum + excellent benefits

Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week (flexi office hours)

Job Type: Full‑time, Permanent

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage an interesting and varied portfolio of UK resident and charitable trusts, ensuring annual accounts and tax compliance deadlines are met.
  • Review work prepared by team members and support their training and mentoring.
  • Assist with advisory and ad‑hoc matters, including high‑level taxation and Inheritance Tax planning.
  • Liaise with tax, accounts, and financial planning teams to ensure seamless client service.
  • Monitor budgets, personal chargeability, and raise fee notes as required.
  • Opportunity for development in charitable trusts, probate work, and estate accounts.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Strong understanding of trusts and trust management.
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and teamwork abilities.
  • Flexible, dependable, and confident in taking initiative.
  • Motivated, resilient, and able to build trust quickly with clients and colleagues.
  • Experience with charitable trusts or probate work is advantageous but not essential.

IT Skills

  • Working knowledge of CCH Trust Accounts and CCH Personal Tax is desirable.
  • Familiarity with the CCH Practice Management System is beneficial.

Qualifications

  • Ideally, CTA and / or STEP qualified, or a strong desire to work towards STEP.
  • Alternatively, candidates may be qualified by experience.
