Were in search of a dynamic Managing Director with substantial experience in the UK fluid power industry, to join an extremely well revered hydraulic company, one of the largest in the UK.
The succesful candidate will step into a robust, long-standing, and highly skilled team spread across the UK.
The Role
The Managing Director will have full P&L responsibility for the company, and will be responsible for defining and leading on all commercial and operational growth initiatives.
Youll also guide the senior management teams at all locations (4 across the UK), ensuring the highest standards of safety and quality are consistently met.
The ideal candidate will be an experienced commercial leader with a proven track record in the UK hydraulics industry.
To succeed in this position, you need to be technically excellent, a strong multi-level communicator, and possess a high degree of emotional intelligence.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Its the responsibility of the Managing Director to be driving commercial and operational excellence, bringing a significant level of authority to the role.
- Strategic Leadership
Define and implement a new growth strategy that aligns with the companys vision and objectives
Structure and lead a high-performing team to deliver annual budgeted growth targets
Implement personal development plans (with support from HR function)
Recruit and onboard strong candidates to add to the existing team. - Financial Management
Full P&L ownership and oversight of financial performance in line with annual budget expectations
Monthly trading updates with accurate financial forecasting
Ownership of all capex requirements, and approval process - Commercial Excellence
Implement strong key account management practices to maintain and grow relationships
Drive revenue growth by identifying new business opportunities
Monthly business activity reporting and accurate revenue forecasting
Champion structured pipeline management and CRM utilisation
Leverage group marketing resources to support all marketing, networking, and exhibition opportunities - Operational Excellence
Oversee & guide all business operations, ensuring efficiency and effectiveness in all business functions
Define and implement key business metrics to monitor operational service levels
Engage with key suppliers to maintain positive relationships - Quality, Health & Safety
Align with the Group Head of QSS to drive a positive culture and focus on health and safety
Ownership for HS reporting of accidents, near-miss and improvement initiatives
Support annual quality & HS audits to ensure all improvements are implemented successfully
Skills & Experience
- Min 10 years commercial / operational snr. management experience in a leading UK hydraulic solutions business
- Excellent knowledge of UK fluid power industry and strong connections across UK manufacturing industry
- P&L ownership experience within a ca £10-15mil turnover SME business
- Capable of defining annual budgets and forecasting models
- Supplier management, procurement, and inventory management practices
- Solid understanding of data management and analysis
- Demonstrated experience in driving process improvement initiatives
- Strong communication and negotiation skills
- Ability to work collaboratively within a decentralised, multi-entity group
- Regular travel required to visit various businesses around the UK Overnight stay may be required
