The Opportunity

The Project Manager (PM) Water Construction is responsible for overseeing the safe, compliant, construction and installation of potable water infrastructure with a focus on quality of installation and compliance with approved design parameters and current legislation and Codes of Practice.

The PM will in all cases look to provide a single point of contact on behalf of Leep for post sales and construction activities to Leep’s contracted customers and stakeholders.

The PM is responsible and accountable for all aspects of the construction phase of the project relating to SHE, CDM, Design compliance, Approval, Programme Forecasting & Integrity, Financial Control, Direct Sub-contractor Management, Defect Management and the Asset handover process.

This role will also provide support for Strategic Projects in providing some pre and post sales support to the Head of Strategic Project Delivery and associated clients as required in order for the project to be in a position to be handed over to the BAU Water Team.

Key Responsibilities

General

  • Take reasonable care for your own health and safety and that of others affected by your actions or omissions, following all Leep SHEQ policies and procedures
  • Responsible for ensuring that all activities related to their construction of potable water assets aligns with UK SHE legislation and any regulatory licence obligations
  • Identify and raise process improvements and efficiencies with the Head of Project Delivery
  • Ensure activities are carried out in accordance with the team’s Table of Accountability (ToA) and RACI matrix obligations
  • Support the budget-setting process within the Operations Directorate including forecasting for connections growth for their projects and any additional training needs
  • Produce accurate and timely forecast and project status reports for internal performance monitoring and Senior Leadership Team (SLT) updates

Role Specific

  • Responsible for ensuring Potable Water Construction Projects are delivered as per Leep’s current process and documented procedures
  • Accountable that all assigned project design activity is completed by accredited third parties and properly logged and reported in line with Guaranteed Standards of Performance (GSOP)
  • Manage each project in line with the capital budget, tracking performance, and ensure compliance with financial, commercial, and regulatory requirements
  • Ensuring that all construction is undertaken in line with the agreed design and that variations are managed to ensure that Leep’s regulatory and commercial and financial position is maintained or enhanced
  • Be accountable that financial controls are adhered to, including timely purchase order management, invoice review, and variance reporting are being undertaken across all assigned projects
  • Responsible for conducting regular audits of all potable water construction sites and partners ensuring that any issues or defects are managed to resolution using the current company systems and procedures
  • Work closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure seamless asset handover with all documentation and contracts in place and that installation standards and pre-water on commissioning and testing meets or exceeds regulatory requirements
  • Support the Head of Strategic Project Delivery and associated clients providing pre and post-sales support and guidance on key potable water infrastructure.
  • Manage the adoption of Strategic Project Potable Water Infrastructure (points of connection & spine mains) in order to bring the projects to a point of handover to the BAU Water Delivery Team.

About You

  • 5 years’ experience of working in Project Management or Team Supervision capacity within a SLP or Water Company
  • Demonstrable experience of the design and construction of potable water infrastructure
  • A good working knowledge of the Water Industry Nav process
  • Excellent knowledge of multi utility industry asset standards such as NJUG
  • Expert knowledge of asset adoption and delivery legal documentation requirements
  • Working knowledge of H&S management and audits, alongside a track record of adhering to budgets
  • An understanding of water regulatory standards applicable to the business and the processes required to be compliant with them
