An opportunity has arisen for a Technician to provide on-site chemistry / metallurgical testing in Derby / Hucknall (Nottingham).
Required skills and experience:
- Chemistry experience is required.
- Metallurgical experience would be advantageous, but training will be provided.
- Knowledge of Aerospace manufacturing environment would be advantageous.
- Ability to establish strong working relationships with clients and manage production requirements.
- Experience in using modern lean tools and techniques.
- Preferably educated to a Degree level or equivalent in Chemistry.
About the opportunity:
The Laboratory Technician will be based at two sites in Derby or Hucknall (Nottingham), offering good transport links to Derby, Nottingham, and surrounding areas. The role requires working >37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, from 06:00 to 18:00, with occasional weekend work.
Key activities include:
- Supporting booking laboratory jobs and maintaining the laboratory logbook.
- Processing samples according to SOPs, including wet chemistry (titrations), ISE, spectrophotometry, and process chemical tank sampling.
- Processing samples as per SOPs, including cutting, grinding, polishing, etching, and assessment.
- Maintaining calibration standards to ISO 17025 standards.
