Overview:

We are seeking a proactive and experienced Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer to join a fast-paced food manufacturing facility on a night shift basis for an initial 3-month contract. The role is responsible for delivering site-wide maintenance support, ensuring minimal downtime, and maintaining compliance with health and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) across a wide range of equipment.

  • Respond to breakdowns quickly and effectively to minimize production downtime.

  • Support site engineering projects, upgrades, and continuous improvement activities.

  • Maintain and repair electrical and mechanical systems across the production site.

  • Work closely with production and engineering teams to identify and resolve technical issues.

  • Ensure all work is carried out in line with site health, safety, and hygiene standards.

  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and shift handovers.

Key Requirements:

  • Time-served engineer with a recognised mechanical and/or electrical engineering qualification (NVQ Level 3 or equivalent).

  • Proven experience in a food, FMCG, or similar fast-paced manufacturing environment.

  • Strong fault-finding skills across mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.

  • Ability to work independently on nights and manage priorities efficiently.

  • Excellent understanding of health and safety practices in a manufacturing setting.

  • Available to start at short notice and commit to the full 3-month contract.

Desirable:

  • Experience with PLC fault finding (Siemens, Allen Bradley, etc.).

  • Knowledge of HACCP and food safety standards.

  • Previous experience working night shifts within a 24/5 operation.
