JOB ADVERTISEMENT Cookery Demonstrator/Home Economist(25A) The Livestock and Meat Commission for Northern Ireland (LMC) is an Executive Non-Departmental Public Body, which was established by Statute (The Livestock Marketing Commission Act [Northern Ireland] 1967) to assist the development of the livestock and livestock products industries. LMCs mission statement is to support, examine and inform the marketing and development of the Northern Ireland beef and sheep meat industry. LMC is looking to recruit the following position: Freelance cookery demonstrators (Job Ref: 25A) In this exciting role, you\’ll have the opportunity to engage with students in primary and post primary schools across Northern Ireland during the autumn and spring terms. You\’ll lead interactive, hands-on demonstrations, showcasing cooking skills and nutritional information on Northern Ireland Farm Quality Assured beef and lamb in an educational setting. In addition, you\’ll participate in consumer and stakeholder events such as Balmoral Show throughout the year, sharing your passion for food and our local agri-food industry. This role supports flexible working. The Role To support the implementation of its education and consumer promotions strategy, LMC is seeking freelance cookery demonstrators. The role involves delivering beef and lamb cookery demonstrations on an ad hoc basis in schools, retail outlets, and at key events across Northern Ireland, such as the Balmoral Show, Love Lamb Week, and Open Farm Weekend. Demonstrators will provide information on topics such as diet, health, nutrition, sustainability, and the Northern Ireland Farm Quality Assurance Scheme. Responsibilities include planning, delivering, and evaluating demonstrations. You should be creative, adaptable, and ready to tackle new challenges each day. Essential Requirements Home Economics / Food and Nutrition teaching qualification or relevant alternative experience Good organisational skills and computer literacy to include accurate completion and submission of administrative paperwork associated with the job Must possess a valid Basic Food Hygiene certificate Must have access to a means of transport to fulfil duties throughout Northern Ireland Desirable Requirements Cookery demonstration experience completed within the last two years Understanding of the role of food education in primary and post primary schools in Northern Ireland Demonstrate good knowledge of red meat nutrition and the beef and lamb industry including the Northern Ireland Beef and Lamb Farm Quality Assurance Scheme Candidates must have the flexibility to be able to work during the day and occasionally in the evening, on bank holidays and weekends.
