Capula are looking for a candidate who specialises in data sourcing and data management, specifically in finance and to include fixed income, equities and so on. The successful candidate will help sourcing market, research, and alternative data; then ensuring we understand our data footprint and manage the costs. The candidate would also need to understand how Bloomberg data and cost attribution to users works.
They would oversee and optimise a dynamic and accurate inventory of data licensing rights and obligations, while offering expert guidance and insights to stakeholders. Drive impactful decisions and ensure the seamless management of valuable data assets for our teams.
Duties and responsibilities:
- Responsible for researching and recommending potential market data services vendors needed to fulfill business requests. Assist business in identifying potential vendors, summarizing service options including costs, and performing due diligence on selected vendors in order to mitigate risk and ensure best practices..
- Processes requests to add, cancel or re-assign services due to moves, departures or change in business requirements. Controls costs by avoiding redundant purchases. Prioritizes orders based on knowledge of departmental personnel and requirements. Will leads some contract negotiation with vendors so will need experience at $1MM+ p.a).
- For both new and existing contracts, incumbent would demonstrate expertise in negotiating price and service level agreements appropriate for size, length and scope of engagement. Works in collaboration with Legal and business to ensure final contract is compliant with regulations, firm policy, minimizes risk, and maximizes opportunity while meeting the customer needs. Requires the ability to be forward thinking and flexible in meeting both internal customer and external vendor requirements.
- Continuously educates the business on vendor management and work with Technology, Legal and Compliance to standardize, formalize and enforce vendor policies and procedures.
- Collaborate with users and stakeholders to transform intricate requirements into actionable development tasks.
- Simplify complex needs into a series of manageable steps, driving innovation and ensuring seamless execution.
- Clearly communicate project status, risks, and dependencies, keeping stakeholders informed and engaged to ensure alignment and awareness of key developments.
- Address discrepancies, resolve compliance issues, and find innovative ways to utilise data throughout the firm.
Requirements
Education and Qualifications
- Bachelor\’s degree (Accounting, Business Administration, Finance or other numerical disciplines)
- FISD (Financial Information Associate or Data Licensing Specialist)
Experience
- 5+ years of experience in Market Data Licensing, Reporting & Administration
- Knowledge of financial industry data sources, providers and products
- Background in analysing, designing and implementing processes and policies to improve efficiency and accuracy in data management
- Experience working with market data service vendors to include sourcing Fixed Income Data (not just from Bloomberg) .
- Strong understanding of market data vendors and the products commonly utilized in the industry
- Provide guidance to business and legal on interpretation of contract documents
- Vendor negotiation skills (not just with Bloomberg), of contracts north of $1mm per annum
- Communication skill to resolve complex vendor billing problems and communicate ordering policies to client staff working against assignment deadlines
- Ability to use sound judgment and engage superiors only when necessary.
- Ability to independently prioritize work load and projects
- Consensus builder to achieve individual buy-in, project progress and team success within diverse organizational groups
- Soft skills, ability to recognize level of audience sophistication, interact effectively and communicate complex concepts and strategies
