Talent STEM, a UK based scientific, technical and engineering recruitment company is partnered with a leading organisation in the chemical processing sector who are looking to hire a GC Chemist to join their Quality Control team at their facility in Cheshire.
We are seeking a skilled GC Chemist to join our quality control team, specialising in gas chromatography (GC), gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) and gas chromatography-flame ionisation detection (GC-FID) to ensure product quality in a fast-paced chemical processing environment.
Key responsibilities
– Conduct sampling and analytical testing using GC, GC-MS and GC-FID on incoming materials, in-process streams and finished products to ensure compliance with chemical specifications.
– Maintain accurate and detailed records of all GC-related testing activities and prepare Certificates of Analysis for product release.
– Perform routine maintenance, calibration and daily checks on GC, GC-MS and GC-FID instruments, alongside other laboratory equipment such as balances.
– Label, log and analyse samples according to company work instructions, promptly reporting any deviations to the QC Manager.
Candidate requirements
– Degree in chemistry or a related field, with hands-on experience in GC, GC-MS or GC-FID within a GMP-regulated laboratory.
– Strong knowledge of laboratory safety and HSE compliance, with a commitment to maintaining an organised workspace.
– Proficient in operating and troubleshooting GC, GC-MS and GC-FID instruments, with a focus on delivering accurate and reliable analytical results.
– Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills for precise record-keeping and efficient sample management.
– Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a quality-focused team.
– Familiarity with quality management systems and adherence to regulated work instructions is desirable.
