Job Description
Working hours are Monday – Friday, 9am – 5pm.
This role require will require some travel across the UK to other Eurofins sites.
As Business Unit Manager for Food Testing, Grimsby you will be responsible for the safe, efficient and high quality operation for all microbiology departments on site & the efficient running of the cross selling business unit.
You will be a key member of the senior team supporting the overall operation of microbiology ensuring the lab operates to the required ISO 17025 standard. You willwork closely with customers and translate those requirements into the operations delivering a business unit that compliments the wider Eurofins business.
- Responsible for a team of 50.
- Accountablefor P&L’s for the business unit.
- Develop methods to reduce cost/improve efficiency.
- Manage Net Working Capital and un-invoiced revenue report
- Responsible on a day-to-day for the health, safety and wellbeing of all staff and the safe operation of the laboratory
- To ensure that all work carried out complies with documented procedures for all aspects of laboratory work, that all relevant information concerning samples is recorded, that samples are handled correctly, that worksheets are kept in an orderly manner.
- Ensuring that the processes and systems are fully optimised and all staff are well trained
- Develop a culture of continuous improvement that allows a continual improvement in the lab
- Support customer requirements and be a key-link to ensure customer requirements are translated within the lab
- Ensure all equipment is maintained and services to the correct standard.
- Ensure complaints and NCWs are completed to a high standard and in a timely manner
- Develop the existing management and supervisory teams to reach their full potential
- Create a positive working environment designed to drive staff retention and ensure that any personal issues are dealt with.
- Effective and timely attendance management of staff in line with company policy
- Ensue shift patterns and staffing levels are aligned with the work load and recruitment is driving the suitable calibre of staff within the lab.
- To partake in any developmental training as required in compliance with the company standard.
Qualifications
- Educated to degree level or equivalent in preferably Microbiology
- Knowledge of UKAS and ISO methods
- Proven experience in working to and exceeding targets
- Strong supervisory, including coaching and project management skills
- Competence in IT, including LIMS, spreadsheets and databases
- Experience of working with a broad range of internal and external customers
- Proven experience working in a laboratory
- Excellent business and industry acumen
- Able to present complex information face to face
- Management level presence and influence
- Excellent presentation, communication (written and verbal), and interpersonal skills
- Strong organisational, multi-tasking and time management skills
