Site Manager – Mechanical Building Services

This is an excellent opportunity to join a M&E contractor with a 5-year orderbook based in the North-East region.

Location:Newcastle
Salary:£50,000 to £60,000 basic+ Car or Car allowance + Package

Role Description:

The Resolute Group is working in partnership with an M&E Contractor who is supporting both Clients directly (Local Authorities, Developers) and Tier 1 contractors in delivering M&E services to the commercial and Industrial sectors. Providing full turn-key solutions from the Design to Project delivery using in-house labour and handback to the client.

This position is a hands-on Site Manager reporting into the Project Manager for the scheme.

Overseeing the on-site delivery of the district heating network, ensuring that all mechanical works (e.g., pipework installation, plantroom construction, energy centre setup) are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to specification.
You don’t need specific experience in Heating systems but managing pipe work installation is key, understanding the technical drawings, connecting and welding process.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage day-to-day on-site operations for the installation of district heating infrastructure including pre-insulated pipework, plantrooms, and energy centres.
  • Supervise mechanical installation teams, subcontractors, and labourers, ensuring works are conducted to specification and health and safety standards.
  • Coordinate with the Project Manager and other stakeholders to plan works, allocate resources, and manage timelines.
  • Ensure compliance with project specifications, drawings, and statutory regulations (CDM, HSE, etc.).
  • Conduct regular site inspections, quality checks, and audits.
  • Attend and lead site meetings and toolbox talks.
  • Maintain accurate site records, including progress reports, timesheets, and material deliveries.
  • Identify potential issues or delays and escalate to management with solutions.
  • Based in Newcastle for the next 5 years, with 3 phases of the project totalling £15m to be delivered across the city. This is also a site-based role, needing someone on site 5 days a week, Monday to Friday.

    Requirements:

  • Mechanical qualification (Apprentice trained NVQ level 3 or ONC / HNC / HND)
  • Proven experience as a Mechanical Site Manager, installing district heating or large-scale mechanical infrastructure projects.
  • SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme) certification.
  • Full UK Driving Licence and willingness to travel to the site 5 days a week.
