About the Role

South Uttlesford Primary Care Network has an exciting opportunity for a self motivated and forward thinking emergency care practitioner (ECP) / paramedic, to provide dedicated support to our 4 general practices and our local population. The role is offered on a part time basis for 18 hours per week, over 2 days, for a 2 year fixed term contract with the possibility of further extension.

You will operate across a neighbourhood of practices, providing specialist paramedic resources and supporting the delivery of PCN service objectives within a surgery setting.

The main responsibilities include:

  • Work as an autonomous, accountable paramedic, providing a holistic approach, including assessment, diagnosis, and treatment to deliver high-quality patient services.
  • Work closely together, and as part of a wider multi-disciplinary PCN workforce including pharmacists and social prescribers.
  • Use advanced clinical skills to provide education to patients, promoting self-care and empower them to make informed choices about their treatment.
  • Assess, diagnose, treat, refer, or signpost patients with undifferentiated or undiagnosed conditions relating to minor illness or injury, supported by senior clinicians as needed.
  • Please see full job description attached. About the Candidate If you are an experienced emergency care practitioner (ECP)/paramedic wanting a new challenge, we would love to hear from you. Previous primary care experience is not essential, and we welcome applications from those working in other settings. Essential:

  • Be a registered paramedic, with current HCPC registration and have post-registration experience, ideally with some being in primary care.
  • Advanced level Clinical Assessment, Reasoning & Clinical Decision Making.
  • Advanced clinical practical skills.
  • Post registration experience in at least two of the following: GP/Minor illness, walk in centre, A&E, GP out of hours or the ambulance service.
  • Be able to effectively assess, plan, treat and refer patients.
  • Be able to evaluate patient care confidently.
  • Experience of working to protocols and guidelines.
  • To exhibit excellent verbal and non-verbal communication skills.
  • Have the ability to make clear decisions with confidence and communicate these effectively;
  • Understanding of the need to work within the parameters of one\’s own training and capability, according to the Health and Care Professions Council.
  • Experience of autonomous practice working and multi-professional team working.
  • Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Ability to work flexibly in core hours to meet needs of service.
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.
  • Desirable:

  • Experience of working within a primary care setting.
  • Working towards advanced clinical practitioner status.
  • Mentorship or supervisory skills training.
