Job Description
We are recruiting a Category Management & Strategic Sourcing Advisor for our client in Aberdeen.
Category management is the strategic approach to organising total spend into discrete categories that are each actively monitored and managed with a strategy that will generate and sustain the most value. Strategic sourcing is the process designed to meet objectives identified through category management, driving proactive, holistic, and continuous evaluation of the targeted spend within the organization to maximize value.
Working within the Category Management & Strategic Sourcing function of the Supply Chain Management group, the Sr Advisor will develop decommissioning strategies to minimize the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO), coordinate the implementation of category strategies, conduct sourcing events, and manage supplier performance for continuous improvement. The Advisor will interact with the company\’s operating assets and relevant stakeholders to maximize opportunities and ensure buy-in.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Develop and assist in the development and implementation of category strategies for the North Sea Decommissioning Program.
- Perform assessments for goods and services, develop detailed supply market analysis, and construct cost models for long-term management of company spend.
- Evaluate and test category levers, including pooled demand, standard designs/requirements, and supplier performance incentives to drive continuous improvement.
- Manage the competitive bidding process for services locally and globally as part of strategic sourcing events.
- Optimize total cost by leveraging markets, forming supplier alliances, consolidating suppliers, and exploring supply chain efficiencies.
- Construct comprehensive bid evaluation models with input from key stakeholders.
- Develop complex negotiation strategies and prepare commercial agreements to define business relationships and mitigate risks.
- Identify and monitor supply market indicators to proactively adjust strategies.
- Work with stakeholders to create accurate material forecasts, place orders, and maintain inventory levels to avoid operational downtime.
- Drive supplier performance management through KPIs, operational performance communication, and improvement initiatives.
- Challenge internal teams creatively to uncover opportunities for financial and competitive advantages in sourcing strategies.
- Apply extensive industry knowledge across business, financial, technical, legal, geographic, and commercial aspects, as well as supply/demand insights.
Desired Qualities/Qualifications
- Experience in Upstream Oil & Gas, with Decommissioning experience preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other Office applications.
- Knowledge of ERP systems such as SAP.
- Understanding of Supply Chain systems, processes, and practices (desirable).
- Knowledge of Source to Pay processes (desirable).
- Strong critical thinking skills.
- Ability to prioritize and manage outcomes effectively.
