Our clients include public and private hospitals, medical defence organisations, pharmaceutical companies, insurance companies, professional associations, healthcare suppliers and distributors, healthcare companies, individual clinicians, private equity firms specialising in healthcare investments, health ministries and authorities.

The Team
Our national Healthcare Regulatory team is expanding and handles a broad spectrum of work defending healthcare professionals and organisations in regulatory proceedings before statutory regulators (GMC/MPTS, GDC, GOC, GPhC, NMC, HCPC), disciplinary proceedings before NHS Trusts, NHS England, and other private healthcare entities. The team is regularly instructed in Coroner\βs Inquests, CQC proceedings, data disputes, and public inquiries. A dedicated sub-team defends healthcare professionals in criminal proceedings. Led by Adam Weston in London, the team operates across our London, Manchester, and Bristol offices.
We seek an experienced Associate or Senior Associate to manage a varied caseload of regulatory healthcare matters and inquests for clients including insurance companies, medical and dental defence organisations, private individuals, and professional associations.
The successful candidate must be able to manage complex caseloads and have prior experience in regulatory and inquest matters.
The Role
This position offers a fantastic opportunity to join a successful team working with leading MDO, insurer, and private clients in the healthcare sector. Our team is committed to providing high-quality service and values collaboration within the national healthcare group. We operate a hybrid working model of 2 days in the office per week, with team events and social activities. We are dedicated to fostering a flexible and supportive environment, aligned with the firm\βs \βwork as one\β ethos. Our chargeable hours target is 6.5 hours per day.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Previous experience in a fee-earning environment.
- Ability to apply law and guidance to meet business needs of an international client base.
- Strong drafting skills and solid academic background.
- At least 6 years PQE with specific experience in healthcare regulatory defence. (Our PQE levels are guides; all suitable candidates will be considered.)
- Practising solicitors must hold a valid practising certificate as per the Solicitors Act 1974.
- Qualified solicitor status, with successful completion of a Training Contract (or equivalent) and relevant legal education (Legal Practice Course; Graduate Diploma in Law if non-law graduate).
- Compliance with the SRA\βs CPD scheme is required for solicitors and registered European lawyers practicing in England & Wales.
- Excellent legal ability, initiative, and strong technical skills. Ability to manage and prioritize a full, varied workload.
- Effective communication skills, attention to detail, proactive attitude, and team-oriented mindset. Willingness to support junior team members.
