Your New Role

Do you have experience in surface modelling, 3D CAD assembly modelling, and AutoCAD? Are you experienced in Aerospace Engineering, integration, and certification documentation?

If so, we may have the job for you. We are recruiting a Design Engineer to join our Design & Technical team at our RFD Beaufort Division based in Ellesmere Port.

The Design Engineer will support the product design of new lifejackets and rafts (single seat and multi-seat) and maintain and enhance existing design data. They will be involved in the ongoing development of new products to expand the product portfolio. Some products will be Aviation certified, so Part 21G/J and Part 145 experience is preferred but not essential. Additionally, the Design Engineer will support the transfer and development of new designs, changes of design methods, and the launch of new or existing products into various sites and subcontractors globally.

The Design team is responsible for creating everything from the initial concept to the final design of our products. They develop ideas for new products and prototypes, as well as evolving the design details of established ranges. They have a deep understanding of customer safety needs and deliver innovation that aligns with our design strategy and brand values. They integrate innovative functional solutions with world-class creativity to support Survitec’s vision to become the most trusted provider of safety services.

What You Can Expect from the Role

  • Analysis of customer requirements
  • Development of design concepts
  • Detailed pattern design using GERBER
  • Participation in design reviews and customer meetings
  • Preparation of design documentation
  • Creation of detailed design drawings using AutoCAD and photography
  • Support manufacturing sites through New Product Introduction activities
  • Support prototype development working closely with machinists
  • Participate in Design for Manufacture reviews
  • Technical liaison (internal business meetings, sales support, tender support)
  • Hold technical reviews with suppliers to optimize design for quality and cost
  • Provide customer support throughout the development process
  • Support testing events, both on-site and off-site

The Experience, Qualifications, and Skills You Will Have

  • Degree qualification or equivalent in a Product Design/Engineering discipline
  • Experience in surface modelling and assembly modelling in a 3D CAD environment
  • Training or education in ISO 9001/AS 9100 standards
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD
  • Understanding of technical drawings
  • Knowledge of UK MOD DAOS and EASA Part 21G/J requirements
