Job Description:
Your Role and What You\’ll Be Doing
We have a fantastic opportunity for a Solicitor to join our Medical Negligence team in Birmingham.
OUR TEAM
As the leading medical negligence law firm in the UK, we know how to make a positive difference to our client’s lives. Our experienced medical negligence solicitors take the time to understand what clients are going through, helping them get the answers and compensation they deserve. Our medical negligence team has extensive experience in clinical negligence claims arising from all aspects of medical treatment including obstetrics, surgery, private and general practice treatment and psychiatric care.
YOUR ROLE
You’ll provide quality legal advice to the firm’s clients by appropriate supervision and training and managing your very own caseload from the outset. Your aim will be to obtain interim payments wherever possible, so that we can put rehabilitation, a care package and suitable accommodation in place before the claim is concluded. As a team, we are dedicated to improving the quality of life of our clients. You’ll join a Partner and Senior Associate who both have a wealth of experience in complex clinical negligence cases, both on behalf of adults and children. Lindsay and Ellie act exclusively for clients in clinical negligence cases, helping people bring claims against NHS Trusts, private practitioners, and general practitioners (GPs). They run their own varied caseload, which includes cases involving:
- Injuries suffered at birth
- Stroke and profound brain damage
- Spinal injuries
- Fatalities
- Delay in diagnosis of cancer
About You
- Ideally 1-3 years’ experience in Medical Negligence work
- Proven experience of handling your own cases, including litigated cases
- A clear enthusiasm for this area of law and a commitment to securing the best outcomes for your clients whilst working under pressure
- An ability to work with empathy and integrity
- An ability to work to deadlines and manage your workload
- An open-minded and pioneering approach – always thinking how we can do things better
We’re proud of our values, and we’re looking for people who share them:
- To be pioneering with an imaginative outlook
- To be approachable and caring
- To be tenacious in the pursuit of our objectives
- To be efficient in the provision of our services
- To work with a foundation of integrity
If this sounds like you, we’d love to receive your application.
Our Benefits – What We Can Offer You
- 25 days holidays as standard plus bank holidays – You can ‘buy’ up to 35hrs of extra holiday too.
- Generous and flexible pension schemes.
- Volunteering days – Two days of volunteering every year for a cause of your choice (fully paid)
- Westfield Health membership, offering refunds on medical services alongside our Aviva Digital GP services.
We also offer a wide range of well-being initiatives to encourage positive mental health both in and out of the workplace and to make sure you’re fully supported. This includes our Flexible by Choice programme which gives our colleagues more choice over a hybrid way of working subject to role, team, and client requirements.
We have been ranked in the Best Workplaces for Wellbeing for Large Organisations for 2024!
Our responsible business programmes are fundamental to who we are and our purpose. We’re committed to being a diverse and inclusive workplace where our colleagues can flourish, and we have established a number of inclusion network groups across our business to support this aim.
Our commitment to Social Responsibility, community investment activity, and tackling climate change is a fundamental part of who we are. It’s made up of four strands: Our People, Our Community, Our Environment, and Our Pro Bono.
