What you’ll be responsible for

Maintaining all waste asset types including wastewater Treatment works, Sewage pumping stations and mechanical equipment on combined sewer overflows including quality proactive planned maintenance and reactive faults on mechanical equipment.

Your responsibilities will include:

  1. Ensuring the correct H&S, procurement and administration procedures are followed on every job, including up to date information required for Welsh Water waste key performance indicators.
  2. Maintaining, repairing and installing mechanical equipment on various assets types and locations, often in challenging conditions.
  3. Producing high quality work, working with electricians, instrumentation technicians and operations staff.
  4. Able to work well and safely as part of a team or as an individual.
  5. Swiftly and comprehensively fault-find, rectifying problems on mechanical equipment including sludge screening, sludge imports, centrifuges, odour control, CambiTM process, water treatment, steam boilers, CHP plant, digestion process, return liquors, thermally hydrolysed sludge dewatering and sludge exports.
  6. Installing, maintaining and repairing mechanical systems generally.
  7. Being part of a standby rota and planned work time with the post covering Five Fords, Wrexham sites, and may be called upon to work at other sites due to operational needs.
  8. Maintaining, repairing and installing mechanical, electrical and instrumentation to ensure performance of all assets.
  9. Actively taking part in Risk Assessment, COSHH assessment and all related Health and Safety issues.
  10. Identifying problematic plant and the subsequent faults and to take part in finding efficient solutions to return equipment to working order.
  11. Identifying requirement of spares and materials using preferred suppliers.
  12. Completing of all job cards and timesheets to allow for monitoring of workload, performance etc.
  13. Providing knowledge, information and provide on-site support for Welsh Water capital teams, operational teams and partners.
  14. Undertaking any other duties as required to meet the needs of the business.

About you

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

  • Fully qualified mechanical fitter
  • Full, UK Driving Licence
  • An excellent understanding of planning and scheduling of work processes
  • The ability to develop positive working relationships and to be seen as a highly credible representative of the team is required for this role
  • Demonstrating an ability to read, understand and work from technical drawings
  • Computer literate

Good to know

  • The successful candidate will be required to participate in a standby rota and also participate in 260 hours planned working time.
  • Company vehicle included.
  • A full UK drivers licence is required.
