Headteacher: Mrs Reena Patel

CLASS TEACHER

POST REF: ED50051711

Contract: Temporary / FULL TIME (1 year)

Salary: NQT/MPS/UPS

To Commence: September 2025

The Head Teacher and Governors of Kitchener Primary School are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated, and reflective teacher to join our wonderful team—and help us provide the very best for our incredible children.

This is a genuine opportunity to be part of a happy, rapidly improving school where your work really matters—and where diversity, identity, equality, and community aren’t just talked about, but truly lived every single day.

Kitchener is a large, vibrant inner-city school in the heart of Cardiff, serving the communities of Riverside, Canton and Leckwith. We have over 460 pupils from more than 40 ethnic groups, with over 90% of our children using English as an additional language. Most of our pupils are of Bangladeshi heritage, and many start school with little or no English.

Our school is alive with culture, language, and joy. We see our diversity as our strength, and we’re proud of the inclusive, outward-looking environment we’ve created. We don’t follow a one-size-fits-all model here. Traditional approaches often do not meet the needs of our learners—and we’re looking for a teacher who understands that, embraces it, and is ready to adapt, innovate, and grow with us.

We want someone who:

•Believes that identity, equality and community are not just values- but as powerful drivers of learning and belonging.

• Is excited to work in a richly diverse setting

• Can build meaningful relationships with our children, families and wider community

• Brings positive energy and a strong team spirit

• Is open to new ideas and committed to professional learning

• Understands and applies effective EAL pedagogy

• Is resilient, ambitious, and compassionate

• Has high expectations and a genuine belief in every child’s potential

What we offer in return:

• Pupils who are enthusiastic, affectionate, respectful and eager to learn

• A school culture that values difference and celebrates every individual

• High-quality, tailored professional development

• A leadership team and Governing Body committed to growth and support

• NQT induction and mentoring

• Real investment in your future leadership potential

At Kitchener, we’re not looking for someone to just ‘fit in’—we’re looking for someone who wants to make a difference, and join a team that’s as passionate about equity and excellence as you are.

If you’re ready to be part of something special, we’d love to hear from you. Call the school to speak to our Deputy Head Teacher, Mr Nathan Hall for a tour and a chat. Tours will take place on Wednesday 2nd July at 9.30am for potential candidates please email our deputy headteacher Mr Nathan Hall for the tour.
