Job Overview
Logistic Operatives – Tool Lead report to the Logistics Manager in Manchester, United Kingdom. This is a key role within the STS logistic structure with responsibility for the day-to-day provision of logistic and tooling support to both line and base maintenance operations. This role can be placed on the day shift pattern or as night shift depending on the business requirements. If on day shift, the operative will work as a team member. If on night shift, they may be required to work as an individual.
Key Accountabilities
Tool Management and Logistic Support – 85% of time
- Ensure all STS logistic processes are followed at all times
- Identify and advise on potential process improvement when applicable
- Attend team planning and review meetings when required to do so
- Conduct internal logistic assurance checks as per the STS logistic assurance programme
- Attend the daily work allocation briefs with logistic shift leads
- Ensure tooling and parts quarantine procedures are conducted as per BPM and direction given
- Ensure that tooling management is appropriately conducted at all times
- Ensure that line maintenance is appropriately supported during each shift
- Ensure handover briefs are prepared and conducted at the end of each shift
- Ensure that all emails to BHX, MAN, NQY and Tooling are dealt with in a timely manner and on the day of receipt
- Escalate all concerns to the Logistic Manager or shift lead at the point of awareness
- Conduct all work safely and in accordance with procedures and training and direction given
- Operate MHE when trained and required to do so
- Familiarise yourself with all risk assessments in place and follow direction contained within
Deputise for Logistic Team Lead – 5% of time
- Deputise for Logistic Team Lead during periods of absence when required to do so
- Manage KPI and regular reporting during periods of absence
- Facilitate logistic assurance programme checks when required to do so
Staff Development and Training – 5% of time
- Support and conduct on-the-job staff training to ensure new staff receive the appropriate training to support their roles
- Ensure that staff training requirements and qualifications are escalated to the Logistic Manager or Team Lead
- Undertake regular competency checks to ensure compliance and ability to conduct logistic tasks
Deputise for or Support Material Coordinator – 5% of time
- Manage the shortage sheet when required to do so
- Attend customer meetings when required to do so

Essential
Qualifications & Experience
- Significant demonstrable experience of logistics operations
- UK full driving licence
- A good understanding of process development within the logistic sector
- A good understanding of calibration management principles and processes
- Demonstrable experience of working in a commercial environment
- Leadership skills and ability to take the initiative and manage workload
- Knowledge of aviation logistics and its key principles
- Proven experience of delivering exceptional service to internal and external customers both personally and through a team
- Knowledge of key Microsoft business packages including Excel, Word and PowerPoint
Desirable:
- A very good understanding and experience in using PROMRO
- MHE License
