A new position is available with this small, friendly freight forwarding agent based at Heathrow (Ashford TW15). Looking for an experienced Import Clerk to join the team, excellent working environment. Good knowledge of air imports & Customs required, experience of seafreight imports would be advantageous, Salary will be relevant to experience.
Employment Terms for the Senior Import Clerk
- Mon-Friday 9-5.30
- £30-38k DOE
- Company Pension after 3 months
- 20 days holiday plus bank holidays
Experience/responsibilities Required for the Senior Import Clerk
- Opportunity to earn overtime when needed/or bank extra hours as holiday
- Creating and building job files.
- Tracking and monitoring import pre alerts.
- Must be proficient in preparing and submitting customs import entries.
- Have a basic all round knowledge of customs procedure codes
- Confident speaking too and dealing with airlines and ground handling agents.
- Arranging airline and bond collection with hauliers for ultimate onward delivery to end client either on an overnight or dedicated delivery dependent on client’s needs.
- Good telephone manner
- Proficient with outlook as role can be email intensive at times especially with our overseas partners.
- Experience in quoting overseas agents for DDU/DDP shipments would be an advantage.
- Will be required to raise and send debit notes directly to clients for import shipments handled through our internal computer software.
- Will be working within a small team.
- Flexible attitude towards out of hour’s clearances i.e. Evenings and/or weekends shared between the team. (Overtime paid)
