Non-Residential Summer Day Camps Teacher (Fulham Cross School))

Contract Dates – Monday 21st July to Friday 15th August

Role: Ultimate English Teachers are responsible for delivering engaging English language lessons to international students aged 6-12. Their dedication ensures transformative experiences for each child. Integrated into the Ultimate Activity Camp programme, Day Camp students participate in activities alongside British children, fostering multicultural exchange and an immersive English learning environment.

This position is for an English teacher for international students at a summer camp. The position is delivered in partnership by Summer Boarding Courses (SBC) and Ultimate Activity Camps (UAC). SBC recruits for this position and provides ongoing support through the summer. UAC are the employers; successful candidates will receive a contract from UAC. The roles are at UAC summer camps with management on the ground by UAC Camp Managers. SBC and UAC are sister-companies and part of Dukes Education.

Remuneration: Paid weekly, one week in arrears. The weekly rate for Day Camp Teachers is £650 plus accrued holiday to be paid at the end of contract.

Working Hours: Up to 35 hours per week, five days per week. Working days are 8:30am–3:30pm, Monday to Friday.

General Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging, student-centred English lessons following the Ultimate English programme that encourage participation.
  • Plan and teach four lessons per day, adjusting for student age, ability, and attendance across multiple weeks.
  • Check student proficiency on their first day and adjust class placements if needed.
  • Ensure lessons are varied and tailored to individual student needs.
  • Ensure student wellbeing during lessons, transitions, and breaks, following safeguarding protocols.
  • Address student and parent queries professionally and provide feedback during check-in.
  • Support student safety during emergencies.
  • Record attendance, lesson plans, incidents, accidents, and student progress.
  • Manage administrative tasks like student registers, report writing and certificate preparation.
  • Tell the Camp Manager any student concerns.
  • Attend training sessions, including pre-summer induction, and set up classrooms and technology.
  • Process stock at the end of the summer using the provided stock list; liaise with the Day Camps Programme Manager about stock requirements.
  • Comply with camp policies, acting as a positive role model.
  • Display energy, enthusiasm, and professionalism throughout the summer.
  • Provide feedback and reflections to the Day Camps Programme Manager at the end of the summer.

About You

SBC PERSON SPECIFICATION

All SBC staff are expected to bring key qualities: a professional interest in working with young people, safety and welfare of students is paramount, and practical enforcement of this belief should be shown.

  • Diplomatic, responsible and motivated
  • Flexible within the summer school environment

We expect staff to communicate effectively with students, using appropriate language, and to demonstrate patience, empathy and emotional awareness. Staff should manage discipline in a firm, positive, constructive manner.

Essential

  • A completed undergraduate degree in any subject
  • CELTA, Trinity Cert or PGCE in Primary, Modern Foreign Languages or English
  • Experience teaching children under 12
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a small teaching team

Desirable

  • Experience working with EFL and EAL children under 12
  • Experience working in a summer school environment
