Junior Asset Sponsor – M25 – United Kingdom

TheJunior Asset Sponsoris responsible for the strategic asset management, planning, and performance of the M25 DBFO portfolio including Paved Areas, Structures, Dartford Crossings and the wider Tunnels and Ancillaries portfolio. This role supports the delivery of a TOTEX investment approach that is applied across Planned Maintenance, Lifecycle Renewals, and Improvements, with projected investments exceeding £70 million per annum over the remaining 15 years of the contract.

Connect Plus (CP) is the consortium that manages the 30-year National Highways flagship M25 DBFO contract, with over 140,000 assets and a management system certified to ISO 55001. The contract end date is 2039.

Location:Leatherhead, South Mimms or Dartford offices and site visits.

What You’ll Be Doing

As a Junior Asset Sponsor, you’ll be at the heart of shaping the future of one of the UK’s most critical infrastructure networks. Working across a fascinating range of asset types—from tunnel systems and lighting to pavements and structures—you’ll help ensure our investment decisions deliver real, long-term value.

You’ll collaborate closely with expert Asset Managers, Project and Commercial teams to keep strategic plans on track, ensuring works are delivered on time, to quality standards, and with minimal disruption to our network and its users. You’ll be part of a connected, supportive team that values cross-functional thinking and open communication.

In this role, you’ll:

Help define the investment direction across a variety of assets, applying systems thinking to bring clarity and cohesion to complex challenges.

Champion collaboration between teams to maintain progress, flag risks, and keep stakeholders informed.

Play an active role in value engineering, helping ensure every pound spent drives performance and improvement.

Support a strategic, joined-up approach that puts long-term outcomes, safety, and sustainability at the centre.

Who we’re looking for

Qualifications/ skills/ experience:

  • Experience of asset investment and delivering value for money management in a construction-critical infrastructure environment.
  • Strong stakeholder influencing and management skills.
  • Project focussed with experience building collaboration in teams for continuous improvement.
  • Experience of working in a Joint Venture or similar arrangement (desirable).
  • Experience of tunnels and/or highway structures asset management (desirable)
  • Experience with data analysis and data led decision making.
