We are currently recruiting for the position of StageManager for Disney Cruise Line.As Stage Manager you will oversee all aspects of live show performances in the Walt Disney Theatrewhile providing leadership, coaching and development for the Main StagePerformers and Assistant Stage Manager; also act as Company Manager forCast.Call all technical show cues (extensive show cues with automation, audio,moving lights, spotlights, electronics, pyrotechnics, and performance flyingsystems) and manage Performers for all onboard performances; train AssistantStage Manager to act as back-up when needed andact as House Manager for the Walt Disney Theatre.
You will report to the Cruise Directorand have on average 20 direct reports.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee all aspects of live show performances in the Walt Disney Theatrewhile providing leadership, coaching and development for the Main StagePerformers and Assistant Stage Manager; also act as Company Manager forCast
- Call all technical show cues (extensive show cues with automation, audio,moving lights, spotlights, electronics, pyrotechnics, and performance flyingsystems) and manage Performers for all onboard performances; train AssistantStage Manager to act as back-up when needed
- Act as House Manager for the Walt Disney Theatre
- Ensure/maintain show quality with both Cast direction and technical aspectswithin the Walt Disney Theatre
- Work closely with Cruise Director, Technical Production Manager, AssistantStage Manager, Senior Technician Walt Disney Theatre, and Senior CostumeTechnician in relation to show and technical operations within the Walt DisneyTheatre
- Create and communicate weekly Cast rehearsals, call times, performanceschedule, and Character greeting schedule for Main Stage Performers
- Work closely with Character Manager to help facilitate scheduling for theCharacters Performers in relation to show needs
- Oversee rehearsals, warm-ups, show modifications and other factors related tothe running of each Walt Disney Theatre shows; work closely with CharacterManager, Dance Captains, Vocal Captain, and Character Line Captain
- Facilitate department meetings as well as Production meetings with theTechnical team
- Provide leadership for all direct reports; Responsibilities include, but are notlimited to:
– Managing personnel files
– Conducting performance reviews, including discipline as needed
– Ensuring Project Onboard compliance
– Input and ensure appropriate understudy and/or premium payments areentered and accounted for in STAR
– Process all pre-approved personal leave requests, family travelrequests, dining requests, and any other ship wide forms as needed
– Onboard training, new hire and ongoing
– Succession planning
– Crew recognition and communication - Complete Walt Disney Theatre show and daily reports outlining overall showquality issues
- Ensure that tracking sheets indicate Cast roles in each show and thatunderstudy roles are maintained for each Performer
- Maintain up-to-date scripts for all Walt Disney Theatre shows
- Partner with shore side Entertainment, Recruiting and Talent Casting regardingreplacement needs
- Partner with shore side Entertainment team to coordinate:
– Cast Crossover schedule and opening cruise performances
– Implementation of Walt Disney Theatre show changes and special eventperformances
– Maintenance cruises for Resident Show Director, Dance Supervisor,Vocal Director, and/or Talent Casting
– Replacement needs
Basic Qualifications:
- Minimum of five years stage management, theatre operations experience,working with highly technical shows
- Working knowledge of current live theatre practices
- Previous experience as or in Company Management
- Previous experience calling shows with a large scale production
- College degree or related schooling associated with Stage Management,Technical theatre, education, entertainment, or related field of study preferred
- Proven experience leading and motivating a team
- Previous Disney Entertainment Operations experience, preferred
- Previous technical or performance experience a plus
- Ability to organize and prioritize team goals
- Ability to be flexible, self-motivated, handle multiple demands, stay calm underpressure and resolve issues quickly
- Good understanding and respect for Entertainers
- Exceptional presentation, communication and organizational skills

You must:
- Be genuinely interested in a career at sea and willing to live and work onboard a Disney Cruise Line vessel
- Be willing to follow and perform safety role, emergency responsibilities and associated responsibilities as specified in the ship Assembly Plan
- Be willing to uphold the general safety management responsibilities as specified in the Safety Management System in areas and operations under their control
- If applicable, be willing to share a confined cabin with other crew members and appreciative of working and living in a multicultural environment that has strict rules and regulations
