This is a unique and rewarding opportunity to take on a leadership role at the heart of Sunderland’s neighbourhoods, managing a new, place-based, multi-agency team focused on community safety and resilience.

As a Locality Manager, you will lead and coordinate one of Sunderland’s Community Safety Locality Hubs. You’ll oversee officers working across environmental enforcement, antisocial behaviour, regulatory compliance, and community engagement, bringing services together to deliver integrated, intelligence-led responses to local priorities.

You will play a vital role in building trust with residents, partners, and stakeholders, driving innovation, and delivering visible improvements across your designated locality.

What You’ll Be Doing:
– Leading and coordinating a multi-agency locality hub
– Acting as a key point of contact for elected members, residents, and partners in your area
– Driving problem-solving through “virtual teams” drawn from across council services and external agencies
– Developing and delivering localised strategies and action plans, informed by community intelligence and data
– Managing team performance, resources, budgets, and operational delivery
– Overseeing compliance with enforcement legislation, health and safety, and safeguarding procedures
– Promoting resident involvement in service design and decision-making
– Representing the service at locality and regional forums
– Fostering innovation and continuous improvement in a fast-paced, evolving environment

What We’re Looking For:
– You’ll bring leadership, innovation, and a people-first approach to place-based problem solving. Ideally, you will have:
– Experience of leading or coordinating multi-disciplinary teams or partnership initiatives
– Strong knowledge of community safety, public protection, or locality-based service delivery
– Proven ability to manage performance, budgets, and complex operational issues
– Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and political awareness
-The confidence to challenge, innovate, and drive change at a local level
– A relevant degree or professional qualification, or equivalent operational experience
