Food & Beverage Steward
As a Food & Beverage Steward at Royal Scotsman, A Belmond Train, you are part of a team that provides an exceptional Food & Beverage service to our guests. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring that all guest areas aboard the luxury train are well maintained, carrying out back of house duties as well as completing all service preparation in a timely fashion. Reporting to the Train Manager, this is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic individual with a passion for excellence and storytelling in travel, a strong cultural awareness and an unswerving approach to maintaining standards. Primary Responsibilities Include:
- This is a seasonal role which runs from March to November. This includes a 4-week training period prior to welcoming guests in April
- Providing excellent customer service to guests in accordance with Belmond and Leading Quality Assurance standards
- Providing breakfast, lunch and dinner service each day and carrying out cleaning, mis en place and maintenance duties
- Bar service, including serving pre-lunch and -dinner drinks and canapés in the Observation Car, afternoon tea and preparing and serving ‘welcome back\’ drinks
- Preparing tables with linens, silverware and glasses, informing customers about the day\’s specials and offering menu recommendations upon request
- Assisting with general onboard duties, including greeting guests and helping with luggage
Requirements
What You Bring:
- Applicants must have eligibility to work in the UK
- 1-2 years\’ experience in a similar role, preferably within the luxury hospitality industry. Hospitality qualification an advantage
- COSHH knowledge and awareness
- Ability to work in high-pressure situations, to follow instructions and to work independently when required
- Good knowledge and understanding of food and wine
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
