Job Description:
Pulse AHP’s Phlebotomy Team is currently recruiting experienced Phlebotomists/Healthcare Support Workers to join the team for a role based in Cornwall.
This role involves working locally in the South-West area providing Phlebotomy & Healthcare Research services. Candidates must have at least 1 year’s experience in drawing bloods and proof of competency as a phlebotomist.
This is part of an established programme entering its next phase. The position details are as follows:
- Position: Phlebotomist/Healthcare Support Worker
- Location: Cornwall
- Hours: 2-3 days per week, shift patterns vary
- Duration: Ongoing
Essential skills include:
- Recent phlebotomy experience of at least 12 months
- Proof of competency
- Driving license is beneficial due to mobile sites
Candidates should be able to work at least 2-3 days per week in a 7-day service, with long days between 7.45am – 6.15pm weekdays, Saturday 8.45am – 5.15pm, and Sunday 10.45am – 4.15pm. The role may involve travel to areas like Launceston, Truro, Falmouth, Redruth, Penzance, and Newquay, with sites moving every 4-5 weeks.
The pay rate is up to £20 per hour (umbrella rate) with weekend enhancements, starting from July.
Main responsibilities:
- Complete POCT cholesterol checks and record results
- Draw and label two blood samples per participant
- Monitor participant welfare and escalate issues
- Offer guidance and signposting to participants
- Prepare samples for courier collection
Essential requirements:
- Recent phlebotomy experience of at least 12 months
- Willingness to register with the agency
