Join our friendly public health team to make a real difference.
We are seeking a new Public Health Practitioner to support our Tobacco, Alcohol and Drugs strategy, working across the council and the city. You will assess population needs, use evidence, and develop plans, pathways, and services with others. Your work will encompass all aspects of public health related to tobacco, alcohol, and drugs: health improvement, health protection, and health care public health. Our work is detailed, broad, fast-paced, long-term, complex, and adaptable.
To succeed in this role, you should have a degree in Public Health or a relevant subject, or an equivalent professional qualification. Experience working with stakeholders to improve outcomes, influence commissioning, and inspire change is essential. You should possess excellent communication, organizational, and analytical skills and be passionate about reducing health inequalities. We value self-starters, collaborative, and innovative individuals. Previous local authority experience is desirable, but candidates with transferable skills are encouraged to apply.

Our standard week is Monday to Friday with flexible working hours and arrangements. Currently, our team operates with hybrid working, combining remote work with office presence at the Civic Centre or other locations. Alternative arrangements, including part-time hours of at least 30 hours per week, may be possible.
