Paint & Glue Process Engineer
Main Function / Purpose of Job:
- Responsible for the maintenance and operation of the plant Paint/Glue process and application equipment in accordance with established control plans to meet customer quality standards and delivery schedules.
- Identify, communicate, and document any issues related to the product, process, and quality system as per IATF-16949 directives.
- Ensure health, safety, and environmental standards are maintained in your area, including reporting hazards, accidents, near misses, and implementing preventative actions.
- Implement cost-reduction improvements for new and existing equipment/processes.
- Provide technical support to Production and Engineering teams for improvement initiatives.
- Develop and implement solutions using error-proofing techniques to prevent nonconformities related to product, process, and quality systems.
- Develop, verify, and document parameter settings for all Paint/Glue process and application equipment to ensure quality standards are met.
- Track, record, and analyze process capability and trends, preparing management reports accordingly.
- Develop robotic path motions and parameters for new products and process improvements to optimize transfer efficiency, including setup of path work, application parameters, and related factors.
- Coordinate with Paint/Glue line personnel for process projects and improvements.
- Collaborate with suppliers on usage optimization, formulation compatibility, and performance issues; work with equipment suppliers to gather application and performance data.
- Work with cleaning suppliers to test new processes and products for system optimization.
- Participate actively in continuous improvement teams as assigned.
- Create and manage annual budgets.
- Assist in developing and maintaining FMEA, control plans, and TS-16949 documentation.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Preferred Education & Experiences:
- Experience with automotive Paint/Glue systems, finishing, and robotics.
- Knowledge of industrial control systems, programming, and computer technology.
- Experience with Mader Paint/Glue Systems is advantageous.
- Familiarity with production control/scheduling systems.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of statistical analysis.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Understanding of ISO 14001 and IATF 16949 standards.
- Good organizational and time management skills.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles.
- Basic understanding of machining, tooling, electrical schematics.
