Job Summary

In collaboration with Frieze and the National Gallery Subject Specialist Network: European Paintings pre-1900, Art Fund is offering 10 fully funded places for UK regional curators, alongside 5 international counterparts. The selected participants will attend a 2-day programme exploring transhistorical exhibition making.

Job Description

The Frieze Masters programme aims to gather emerging career curators from diverse and underrepresented backgrounds to explore transhistorical exhibition making, spanning historical and contemporary periods.

The programme will be led by Dr. Jennifer Sliwka, Keeper of Western Art at the Ashmolean Museum and Professorial Fellow of Balliol College, University of Oxford. It includes:

  • Online pre-programme seminar and introduction to the art market
  • Access to Radical Harmony: Helene Kroller-Muller\’s Neo-Impressionists exhibition at the National Gallery
  • Keynote in-conversation with Dr. Aimee Ng, John Updike Curator at The Frick Collection
  • Guided tours of Frieze Masters
  • Invitation to the alumni event
  • Invitation to the \”Unexpected View\” event at The National Gallery
  • Feedback session with curators
  • Access to Frieze London and Frieze Masters

Deadline for Applications

The application deadline is Friday, 11 July at 5 pm.

Funding and Eligibility

10 bursary places are available for UK museum and gallery professionals. The programme covers travel, two nights\’ accommodation, and refreshments.

Applicants need only to input travel costs and a daily allowance of £25 in the budget. Frieze will support accommodation and refreshments (breakfast and lunch).

Who Can Apply

Open to museum and gallery curatorial professionals working with public collections. The programme seeks to include emerging curators from diverse and underrepresented backgrounds, especially those with limited travel budgets.

  • Profit-making organizations, including Private Limited Companies, Public Limited Companies, Unlimited Companies, or Sole Traders
  • Partnerships (General, Limited, or Limited Liability)
