Job Description
Schwend, Inc. is hiring CDL A Regional Pneumatic Tank Drivers in TN, AL, & GA. Here at Schwend we pride ourselves on being a family-owned and operated company. Charles and Judi Schwend started our company in 1976. Mr. Charles and Mrs. Judi are now retired, but if you ever stop by our terminal in Dade City are you likely to see them around the office. Jeff (Judi and Charles son) took over the company after his parents retired and is now our company President and fearless leader! Over the last 47 years, we have built a strong customer base in the Southeast, hauling many types of agricultural products. We have grown some since 1976 and we now have a total of 4 terminals! Due to our continuing growth, we are actively searching for professional, reliable, drivers to join our family! We are licensed to run all 48 states, but we primarily stay in the southeast.
Compensation:
- Average gross weekly pay: $1,300 – $1,800 (this includes blow off pay)
- Varies based on the number of loads per week (4-6 loads a week on average)
- Drivers are paid a gross % of each load
- Pneumatic Drivers are paid $1.50 per ton for every ton of product blown off
- Bonuses:
- Sign-on Bonus: $5,000 paid in $100 increments per week over the course of a year
- Driver Referral Program: Up to $2,500
- Quarterly Fuel Bonus & Safety Bonus
- Additional Pay:
- Nightly Per Diem: $20/per night spent in truck
- Goes directly to your paycheck and is not taxed
- Additional Weekend Per Diem: $75 flat on top of normal nightly per diem
- Detention & Layover Pay (differs per customer)
- Nightly Per Diem: $20/per night spent in truck
- Paid via direct deposit weekly

Home Time, Route & Schedule:
- Home Time: Home most weekends & home occasionally during the week depending on location!
- Schedule: Monday through Friday and home most weekends!
- Drivers may get home some throughout the week. Some weeks you may not get home at all during the week, other weeks you may get home 3 nights during the week
- Occasional weekend work may be required
- A select few locations will be out for 2-3 weeks at a time, please call the recruiting department to confirm your location
- Route: Loads are hauled out of your location and then delivered to wherever the customer needs
- Runs will primarily be throughout the Southeast Region
- We have dedicated customers that we haul for year-round!
- Level of Touch: this position is unique in that drivers will be hands-on but will never directly touch the freight; no bumping docks. Drivers will open and close the top lids. They will also hook up hose to the silo, drop in the pit of water, or into a pit in the ground; you would then use air pressure to blow the product off the trailer. You will need to be able to lift up to 75lbs.

- Trailers: Stephens & Heil – 1,000 cube and up
- Unsurpassed by any other company in quality and dependability
- All trucks are automatic transmission
- Amenities: Mattresses, APUs and Inverters
- Governed speed: 69 on cruise
- Safe Driving Program: After 1-year of no moving violations we bump cruise up to 70mph and after 2-years of no moving violations we bump up to 72mph
- ELD equipped using Samsara system
- No driver facing cameras, only outward facing
Qualifications:
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Must have CDL A license
- Must have a minimum of 2 years of verifiable tractor-trailer driving experience
- If you have never pulled a pneumatic, no worries, we will train you!
- 0 DUI/DWIs in last 10 years
- Less than 3 points on your MVR
- No careless or reckless driving within the last 10 years
- Tanker/Hazmat endorsement NOT required
- Must meet Department of Transportation (DOT) testing and physical requirements and be knowledgeable of DOT regulations
- Must be able to pass a required pre-employment drug screen
- Cannot have any history of refusing drug screening or have a record of failing a previous drug test
- Drivers must be able to provide CB Radio & Steel Toe Shoes
