About the Role:
We are seeking a qualified and dedicated Speech-Language Interpreter (SLI) to provide communication support services for students who are deaf or hard of hearing in a school-based setting in Alabama Fork, AL. We are looking for professionals who are passionate about making a difference in the lives of students through accessible communication and inclusive education.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide interpreting services for students who are deaf or hard of hearing, using American Sign Language (ASL) or other appropriate modes of communication.
- Interpret classroom lessons, assignments, and school communications between students and staff.
- Collaborate with special education staff, general education teachers, and related service providers.
- Support student participation in classroom and school activities.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional and ethical standards for educational interpreters.
- Assist with educational planning when appropriate and attend IEP meetings if needed.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent (required)
- Valid Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) score of 3.5 or higher, or RID/NAD certification (preferred)
- Experience working in a K-12 school setting (preferred)
- Ability to effectively communicate using American Sign Language (ASL)
- Must pass background check and meet state compliance requirements
