Job Description
A dedicated Special Education Teacher is needed for an elementary school setting in New Bern, NC, to support students in grades K-3. This contract position spans the entire school year and offers an opportunity to work in an adaptive, self-contained classroom focused on high-needs learners. The role requires collaboration with a skilled team, including three full-time paraprofessionals, to provide individualized support for a caseload of approximately 6-8 students.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instruction aligned with students Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
- Adapt curriculum and materials to meet diverse learning needs and abilities.
- Maintain detailed records on student progress and communicate effectively with families and school staff.
- Collaborate with paraprofessionals and multidisciplinary teams to enhance educational outcomes.
- Foster a nurturing, inclusive classroom environment that promotes student growth and independence.
Qualifications:
- Valid North Carolina Exceptional Childrens Teacher License.
- Experience working with elementary-aged students, preferably K-3rd grade, in special education settings.
