Job Description
This position is responsible for coordinating and performing professional and technical duties related to financial operations. The role includes maintaining control over fiscal systems by monitoring and analyzing financial records, preparing grant reports, recommending accounting procedures and controls, and ensuring compliance with applicable policies, procedures, and regulations. The position also involves preparing and interpreting monthly and annual financial reports in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) guidelines.
This is a 100% on-site position. Candidates must be able to pass a background check and pre-employment drug screening.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field with at least 24 units in accounting.
3–5 years of experience in full-cycle accounting or progressively responsible roles in governmental or nonprofit finance.
Experience in a government or nonprofit setting preferred.
Strong ability to interpret laws, regulations, and policies to ensure accurate financial reporting.
Excellent organizational and communication skills.
Proficiency in preparing and analyzing complex financial reports and identifying solutions.
Familiarity with fund accounting software (e.g., MIP).
Ability to maintain confidentiality and work extended hours when needed.
Valid California Driver’s License and insurability.
Must pass a background check and pre-employment drug screening.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Implement and monitor internal accounting controls.
Ensure compliance with financial regulations and reporting standards.
Collaborate with department heads and grant managers to meet reporting requirements.
Prepare reconciliations, financial statements, and journal entries.
Manage grant and contract financial reporting for various funding sources.
Identify and correct discrepancies in complex accounts.
Assist with year-end closing, audit preparation, and external auditor support.
Attend relevant training, meetings, and workshops.
Perform other duties as assigned.
