Summary:
Ensures alignment with Enterprise Safety and Environmental Services objectives and procedures with a goal to achieve continuous improvement for the reduction of work-related injuries/illnesses, and related cost reduction strategies at the business unit level. As applicable in business unit, ensure strong environmental compliance (environmental compliance responsibilities vary by site). Achieve compliance obligations with applicable safety and health standards, and applicable environmental regulations with direction from Enterprise Safety and Environmental. There is no relocation assistance available for this position.
Responsibilities:
- As they relate to a specific business unit, leads in the development and coordination of Andersen’s safety and environmental programs and standards to implement best practices and achieve and maintain compliance with applicable federal, state, and local codes and regulations. In less complex sites, may take the lead on site OSHA, EPA, State, or local regulatory visits/contact. In more complex sites, provide day-to-day assessment and improvement support in the environmental area, and help coordinate with Enterprise Environmental as they manage responsibilities such as permits and compliance visits.
- Develop training materials and deliver and/or coordinate site specific safety and environmental training/testing (e.g. incident investigation, new employee orientation, lockout/tagout, powered industrial trucks, ergonomics, safety inspections, job safety analysis, audiometric testing ,LOTO, hazardous waste, stormwater, air compliance, spill response, etc.) as necessary and/or directed by Enterprise Safety and Environmental, or Plant Management in order to address hazards and comply with relevant regulations.
- Work with site manufacturing engineering to conduct safety assessments of new or modified equipment/processes in accordance with Andersen’s Safety Assessment Procedure. Participates with engineering in problem solving/resolution exercises. Seeks direction from Enterprise Safety in standard interpretation and challenging situations. Trains site engineers/project leads in the safety assessment process.
- Develops and initiates projects based on identified business unit needs in order to implement site-customized processes/procedures/best practices beyond those initiated by Enterprise Safety in order to reduce risks to associates.
- Conduct or oversee environmental inspections, perform routine tasks including monitoring, testing and data collection and maintain environmental records as needed to comply with the site’s requirements.
- Conducts ergonomic assessments to identify risk factors and work with engineering to implement control measures to address identified ergonomic risk factors. Ensure site engineers are trained in ergonomic principles and risk evaluation processes.
- Supports location safety and environmental assessments (e.g. audits, inspections, accident investigations, etc.); with site management and recommends and assists in the execution of corrective actions. Trains auditors as needed.
- Coordinate annual safety and environmental strategy development and tracking at the site level. Evaluate safety related data and conduct loss analysis to guide strategic direction/focus areas. Coordinate with business unit in safety and environmental compliance goals setting process to include leading and lagging indicators.
- Works with Disability Management and site Supervision in regard to administration of workers compensation and return to work processes.
- Leads cross functional teams and plant safety committee. Participates in routine Enterprise Environmental calls and training. Provides direction to more junior level safety and environmental positions (where applicable).
Requirements:
· Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in safety engineering or related discipline or the equivalent combination of education and experience. Master’s degree preferred.
- A minimum of 3-5 years of safety-related and/or environmental management experience preferably in a manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of government regulations concerning health, safety & the environment. Knowledge of relevant equipment safety standards and hazard control measures.
- Strong interpersonal/communication (verbal and written) skills
- Must be able to work independently, with minimal direction
- Demonstrated project management and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated customer-orientation and collaborative approach.
- Significant experience with hazard assessment/evaluation and implementation of control measures to address risks.
Compensation: Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to work experience, education, geographic location, certifications, etc. Your recruiter can share more about the specific compensation package for your preferred role during the hiring process. Successful candidates in this role are expected to earn between $77,000-$119,000.
