Job Title: CNC Lathe Machinist

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled CNC Lathe Machinist to join our team on 1st shift, working Monday through Thursday from 6:00 am to 4:30 pm. The ideal candidate will be adept at setting up and operating one or more CNC or NC lathes and will perform various operations including turning, facing, boring, threading, and drilling. A solid understanding of machine tool safety procedures and daily maintenance is essential.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate CNC or NC lathes.
  • Perform operations such as turning, facing, boring, threading, and drilling.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and sketches.
  • Use measuring instruments like micrometers, calipers, bore gages, and scales.
  • Select appropriate tools for various operations.
  • Edit programs and correct problems on machines.
  • Adjust machines to maintain required sizes and troubleshoot alarms.
  • Perform basic maintenance tasks and daily start-up procedures.
  • Conduct various inspection procedures including first piece inspection.

Essential Skills

  • Experience with Fanuc Controls on CNC Lathes.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints.
  • Proficiency in operating the DNC system for program download and upload.
  • Knowledge of cutting speeds, feed rates, and depth of cuts.
  • Ability to adjust machines to maintain precision.
  • Thorough understanding of machine tool safety and procedures.

  • Associate’s Degree in Machine Tool Technology or equivalent.
  • 3 years of machine tool experience.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, you will be exposed to moving mechanical parts and varying noise levels. The shop environment requires wearing steel-toed shoes, hearing, and eye protection. The work involves exposure to graphite machining, which can be dirty despite excellent air filtration and dust collection systems.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 – $28.00/hr.
