Position Type: Full-Time, Hourly, Non-Exempt
Reports To: Foreman
Compensation: $32–$40 per hour (Paid Weekly)

Summary:
Layton Services is seeking an experienced Mainline Equipment Operator to join our utility installation team. You’ll be responsible for safely operating heavy machinery to dig trenches and install water, sewer, and storm utilities. This role is critical to the successful completion of our excavation projects and requires precision, experience, and a safety-first mindset.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate excavators to dig to grade around existing utilities and trench boxes
- Collaborate with the pipe layer, foreman, and superintendent to ensure safety and efficiency
- Proficiently operate various types of heavy machinery
- Read and interpret site plans, specs, and cut sheets
- Follow instructions and project specifications precisely
- Maintain compliance with OSHA and company safety regulations
- Perform tasks with attention to quality, safety, and timelines
- Handle any other responsibilities as assigned
Qualifications & Skills:
- 3+ years of construction industry experience
- 2+ years of experience installing mainline utilities through excavation
- Proficient in excavation, grading, trenching, and material handling
- Ability to interpret project plans and supervisor directions
- Understanding of OSHA safety practices (10-hour and trenching training provided)
