Job Description
Our client is looking for a detail-oriented Assistant Controller to join their team in the Jurupa Valley area. This role is ideal for professionals with extensive accounting experience who excel in managing financial processes and ensuring accuracy in reporting. As a key contributor, you will oversee various accounting functions and collaborate closely with the Director of Finance to drive operational excellence.
Responsibilities:
• Collaborate with the Controller to execute month-end close activities and ensure timely reporting.
• Prepare journal entries, maintain the general ledger, and verify the accuracy of transactions.
• Reconcile accounts to ensure financial records are precise and up-to-date.
• Analyze and record asset, liability, revenue, and expense entries by compiling relevant account information.
• Review and reclassify general ledger codes while conducting cost analysis to support financial decisions.
• Manage subsidiary accounts by verifying, posting, and reconciling transactions while resolving discrepancies.
• Summarize financial data by preparing balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other critical reports.
• Support external audits by analyzing general ledger accounts and providing necessary documentation.
• Train and supervise accounting staff to enhance departmental efficiency and performance.
• Safeguard financial information by maintaining database backups and ensuring confidentiality.
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, economics, or a related field is required.
• A master’s degree in accounting or finance is preferred.
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation is strongly preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting or finance, demonstrating attention to detail.
• Proficiency in cost accounting, with experience in custom manufacturing or construction environments highly desirable.
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with accounting software systems.
• Knowledge of DCAA compliance and financial reporting tools such as Crystal Reports is advantageous.
• Strong understanding of accounts payable, accounts receivable, and month-end close processes.
